🧩 Step-by-Step: Install and Open ADUC

Step 1️⃣ – Install ADUC Console

1. Open Server Manager → Manage → Add Roles and Features

2. Proceed to the Features section

3. Select RSAT: Active Directory Domain Services and Lightweight Directory Tools

4. Click Install

5. Once installed, go to Tools → Active Directory Users and Computers

(On Windows 10/11: Open PowerShell and run)

Add-WindowsCapability -Online -Name Rsat.ActiveDirectory.DS-LDS.Tools~~~~0.0.1.0

Step 2️⃣ – Create Organizational Units (OUs)

1. Open ADUC → expand your domain name (e.g., corp.local)

2. Right-click domain → New → Organizational Unit

3. Name it (e.g., IT Department or HR Users)

4. Use OUs to group users or computers by department or role

Step 3️⃣ – Create a New User

1. In the OU, right-click → New → User

2. Enter details (First name, Last name, Logon name)

3. Set an initial password and password policy

4. Choose to require password change at next logon

Step 4️⃣ – Add a Computer to the Domain

1. On a client machine, right-click This PC → Properties → Rename this PC (Advanced)

2. Click Change → Domain, then enter your domain name (e.g., corp.local)

3. Provide admin credentials and restart the client

4. The computer will appear under Computers in ADUC

Step 5️⃣ – Manage Users and Computers

Right-click a user → Properties to reset passwords, disable accounts, or move users between OUs

Use Group Membership to assign access levels

Apply Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to OUs for system-wide control
